The Methodology and Pedagogy Centre – Activities in 2019
In the Methodology and Pedagogy Centre (MPC), we have prepared an offer of educational events and professional methodological support for individuals and groups of pedagogical and professional staff for the 2020/2021 school year, which will be flexibly adapted and realized depending on the pandemic situation.
In case of worsened pandemic situation all open educational groups in approved educational programmes and planned educational events will be realized online. In such case participants would be divided into groups and six-hour training would be divided into two three-hour online meetings. We are also preparing digital learning resources and e-learning. All offered educational events will be realized according to the current conditions, interest and residence of the participants.
The tools of individual support and help for pedagogical and professional staff are:
CONSULTATIONS
Consultations are available during consultation hours (see: https://mpc-edu.sk/individualne-konzultacie). Telephone and e-mail contacts of professional development teachers are published on our web page, as well as active links for online consultation rooms. Professional development teachers are available on specific days and in specific time for consultations not only on particular topics, but also on problems related to the beginning of the new school year and adaptation to new conditions in education. At the same time, we also offer the possibility of GROUP CONSULTATIONS and GUIDANCE in the form of face-to-face meetings in schools and school facilities for entire teams of pedagogical and professional staff in selected areas according to specific requirements. Group consultations are carried out based on a written request (also via email) and on an agreement between the school management or the school facility and the management of the relevant MPC regional branch. |
SHORT METHODOLOGICAL INSPIRATION
In the section Short methodological inspiration (see: https://mpc-edu.sk/kratke-metodicke-inspiracie) we offer inspirations to enrich and innovate your own teaching. Teachers can use creative activities and adapt them to the conditions of a particular school and class. We have published 153 short methodological inspirations which include practice-proven procedures for teaching activities, didactic games and other activities made by professional development teachers, external lecturers and participants. There are also attached worksheets, pictures, templates, links to other resources, etc. In this section, we offer space for teachers as well to publish creative activities which can be part of their portfolio.

THE INTERACTIVE HOUSES OF KNOWLEDGE (“IDP”)
As part of an EU-supported National Project: Experiential methods in education (EME) ITMS kód: 26120130025 AMV, we have created audiovisual didactic materials for teachers – The Interactive Houses of Knowledge (“IDP”)The full “IDP“ collection consists of 33 Interactive Houses of Knowledge including 132 original educational audio-visual contents in the form of professional TV programmes for pupils and students with the total duration of 1980 minutes.
Videos are learning activities and discussions with experts realized with children and children in a virtual classroom, which was created in a recording studio. Educational activities are always connected with a thematic document according to the state curriculum. Twenty additional special software applications allow editing these contents as well as adding new digital subjects into the creative space of the “IDP”. Two hundred and sixty four (264) examples are included to show how to use these interactive elements of the “IDP”. “IDP” users, the teachers, together with their pupils can use the “IDP” functions repeatedly, in countless variations. “IDP” content cowers media education, road safety, ethics and health. At the same time, the full “IDP“ collection focuses on 4 basic age categories of children, pupils and students: Children from 3 – 6 years, Pupils from 6 – 10 years, Pupils from 10 – 15 years, Students from 15 – 18 years. |
The whole collection has been available at the central repository of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports since March 2020 https://viki.iedu.sk/resources/browser/vychovy. TEACHERS FORUMS
In the new school year, we are starting TEACHERS FORUMS, which are one of the diverse activities of the new national project supported by the ESF. Teachers' Forums will enable cooperation and exchange of teachers' experience. We will organize face-to-face or online meetings depending on current pandemic situation and also according to the topic or the content of the meeting. Additionally, we offer an online platform for asynchronous discussion and sharing experience, which is on our web page (see: https://mpc-edu.sk/ucitelske-fora). |
|
Teachers forums will focus on methodological support for schools and school facilities - updating and integration of educational content, sharing methodological procedures, best practice, etc.
An essential feature of teachers forums, compared to other forms of educational events offered by MPC, is that the content and the course of meetings is not determined by a specific educational programme or a lecturer, but is dynamically formed in accordance with the preferences and needs of the members of the teaching forum who are actively involved. Four meetings are planned in a school year. The activities of the teachers forum will also be linked to a digital platform for asynchronous discussion.
